Effective date: 2026-09-02
Site: https://vidsummarize.top (the "Service")
This Privacy Policy explains what information vidsummarize.top ("we", "us") collects when you use our free AI video summarizer, how we use it, and the choices you have. The Service does not require an account, and we do not ask for your name or email address to use the core tool.
1. Information We Process
1.1 Information you provide
- Video URLs. When you paste a YouTube link, we process that URL to generate a summary. The URL is stored with the generated result so the result page can be displayed and shared.
1.2 Information collected automatically
- Usage analytics. With your consent (where required), we use Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity to understand how the Service is used (pages viewed, events, anonymized session replays). These services set cookies or similar technologies.
- Server logs. Like most websites, our hosting providers automatically log technical data such as IP address, browser user-agent, timestamps, and request URLs for security, abuse prevention, and rate limiting. Logs are kept for a limited operational period (up to approximately 30 days).
- Local quota signals. To enforce free-tier limits without accounts, we store a locally-held anonymous identifier (e.g., in your browser's local storage). You can clear it at any time by clearing site data.
1.3 Generated content
- Summaries. The AI-generated summary displayed on the result page is stored so you (and anyone you share the link with) can view it. Intermediate files (audio, full transcripts) are deleted as described in Section 3.
1.4 What we do NOT collect
- No accounts, no names, no email addresses, no payment details collected by us (payment providers, when paid plans launch, are covered in Section 4), and no file uploads in the current version.
2. How We Use Information
- To generate, display, and share video summaries;
- To operate, secure, and debug the Service, and to prevent abuse and enforce quotas;
- To measure usage and improve the product (analytics, subject to consent);
- To display advertising (advertising cookies subject to consent, Section 4);
- To respond to legal requests, copyright complaints, and abuse reports.
3. AI Processing, Retention & Deletion
- Processing chain. For each request, the Service may retrieve publicly available video data (e.g., title and thumbnail via YouTube's official oEmbed endpoint), transcribe the video's audio, and generate a summary using third-party AI providers.
- No source media retention. Audio retrieved for transcription is deleted as soon as transcription completes. Full transcripts are deleted after the summary is generated. We do not build an archive of videos or transcripts.
- Result retention. Summaries are stored for a limited period (configured to balance sharing utility against storage) and are accessible to anyone with the result link.
- Deletion requests. Because the Service is account-free, we cannot tie results to an identity. To request removal of a specific result, contact us at hi@vidsummarize.top with the result link; we will remove it after verifying the request.
4. Third-Party Services
We rely on the following categories of third-party services (final list is maintained in our internal service registry; material additions will be reflected here):
| Category | Examples (v0) | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| AI transcription & summarization APIs | Provider selected at implementation; selected for no-training / no-retention API terms | Transcription and summarization |
| Hosting & edge compute | Cloudflare (Pages, Workers, R2, Queues) | Delivery, compute, temporary storage |
| Analytics | Google Analytics 4, Microsoft Clarity | Usage measurement (consent-gated) |
| Advertising | Google AdSense or similar | Display advertising (consent-gated) |
| Video metadata | YouTube oEmbed (official public endpoint) | Title / thumbnail / embed info |
| Payments (future) | Stripe or similar | Paid subscriptions (email + payment token handled by the provider) |
These providers process data under their own privacy policies, and, where relevant, data transfer mechanisms such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
5. Cookies & Tracking Technologies
- Analytics/advertising cookies (GA4, Clarity, AdSense) are loaded only after consent where consent is required (EEA, UK, Switzerland). Outside consent jurisdictions they may load under a "legitimate interests" notice basis, with browser-level opt-outs available.
- Strictly functional storage: anonymous quota identifiers (local storage) are not used for tracking across sites.
- We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal: where required, GPC is treated as an opt-out of sale/sharing and of personalized advertising.
- You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the core tool keeps working without analytics cookies.
5a. Do Not Sell or Share (California)
We do not "sell" personal information as defined by the CCPA, and we do not "share" it for cross-context behavioral advertising. If this changes (e.g., personalized advertising is enabled), we will provide a "Your Privacy Choices" link at that time.
5b. EU/EEA/UK: Legal Bases
- Analytics and personalized advertising: consent (withdrawable at any time);
- Service provision (processing the URL you submit, generating and storing the summary): performance of a service you request;
- Security, fraud/abuse prevention, logs: legitimate interests;
- Legal obligations: compliance with law.
6. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us.
7. International Transfers
The Service is operated from the United States and targeted to a US/English audience. Data may be processed in the US and other countries where our providers operate. EU/EEA/UK visitors: see Section 5b; transfers rely on recognized safeguard mechanisms where required.
7a. Google Analytics Disclaimer
This site uses Google Analytics. Google may process data under the Google Analytics Data Processing Terms; we configure data retention to the shortest practical period (GA4 standard options are 2 or 14 months for user/event-level data; we use 14 months). Google offers a browser add-on to opt out of Google Analytics tracking.
7b. AI Content Notice
Summaries are generated by AI and may contain inaccuracies. They are provided for convenience and are not a substitute for watching the original video. See our Terms of Service for details.
8. Changes to This Policy
We will update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by a new effective date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
